The year 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. To commemorate this event, Mason will hold a watch party of Emancipation Nation: Celebrating Freedom on National Constitution Day, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Smithsonian Institution and the History Channel. The discussion will be led by University of Richmond President Ed Ayers and feature a panel of top emancipation historians who will discuss thinking about the emancipation experience in new ways.
The watch party will take place in the Meese Conference Room in Mason Hall from 1-3pm.
