Host: George Washington University. This debate was conceived and planned with students from The George Washington University Civic House Scholars Program, and GWU’s Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service. It is brought to you with the support of a partnership of Braver Angels, and the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA).
Description: Join a guided conversation in which college students debate all sides of a challenging issue, think deeply, listen carefully, and allow themselves to be touched and transformed by each other’s ideas. Many people have never experienced anything like a Braver Angels Debate. It’s not a political debate between candidates for office. Nor is it a competitive debate; there are no “losers” or “winners.” When a Braver Angels Debate is done well, everyone emerges with empathy and respect for those carrying opposing views; and tighter community relationships are established.
