Jill is a Green Party Presidential Candidate, a “mother, physician, longtime teacher of internal medicine, and pioneering environmental-health advocate,” as stated in her biography on her campaign website.
She co-authored, In Harm’s Way: Toxic Threats to Child Development as well as Environmental Threats to Healthy Aging. These are two widely-praised reports that Dr. Stein has used to promote green local economies, clean power, sustainable agriculture, and freedom from toxic threats, especially concerning health threats to children. She realized politicians were not working to prevent these areas when she became an advocate for the environment in 1998. Jill Stein worked to create a “Secure Green Future” ballot initiative which worked towards speeding up renewable energy use in Massachusetts in 2008.
Dr. Stein was born and raised in Illinois, graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1973 and from Harvard Medical School in 1979. She currently lives in Lexington, Massachusetts with her husband, a fellow physician. She is the mother of Ben and Noah Stein, who recently graduated from college.
