Joseph Biden, 65, was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. In 1965, he graduated from the University of Delaware and received his law degree in 1968 from Syracuse University. After graduation, he started a law practice and won a spot on the New Castle County Council. In 1972, he won a seat in the U.S. Senate but just after the election, his wife and one year-old daughter were killed and his two sons seriously hurt in a car accident. In 1977, Biden married Jill Jacobs.
Biden has three living children.
